What is the Multi-Modal Transportation District (MMTD)?

The MMTD is an overlay zoning district that focuses on Tallahassee's downtown core and the surrounding neighborhoods. It identifies the allowable land uses and development standards for this area. The MMTD's goal is to create neighborhoods and commercial centers that are compact and pedestrian-oriented with a mix of uses. Also, the ordinary activities of daily life are intended to be available within walking distance of most homes, providing independence to those who do not drive. The intent is to create neighborhoods with a range of housing types to accommodate diverse ages and incomes. The MMTD is found in the Zoning Code at Sec. 10-280 to Sec. 10-285.
